abode Adds Google Assistant Integration to DIY Home Security
Voice is becoming a key smart home controller for many consumers and Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant are becoming key components in smart homes. Today, abode systems, one of GearBrain's best picks for DIY home security system, announced the integration of Google Assistant into their platform. This integration will offer customers use of voice commands to control smart home gadgets, like lights, plugs and switches. Using succinct voice commands like "Hey Google, turn on the den lights" will provide customers control of smart lights that have been integrated into the abode platform.
abode's Google Assistant integration is the second voice control system the company has integrated into their platform. Amazon Alexa is also integrated into abode system. This makes abode one of the few DIY home security systems with both voice activated systems integrated into a home security system.
Starting today, customers wishing to integrate Google Assistant with their abode home security setup will be able to control all lights, dimmers, and switches using their voice. Presently, the Google Assistant integration can only be used to control switches, dimmers, and lights and not used to arm or disarm the security system but abode is working on implementing that functionality in a future OTA update.
