Laifen Expands Its Beauty Line with a Smarter Hair Dryer, Automatic Curler, and Vanity Mirror
Laifen is moving beyond high-speed hair dryers with three beauty-tech products designed to simplify drying, styling, and makeup application. Here is what consumers should know about the Swift 4, AutoCurl, and Glowy Vanity Mirror before buying.
Laifen built its name by making high-speed hair dryers more accessible, but the personal-care technology company now wants to support more of the daily beauty routine. Its latest lineup includes the Laifen Swift 4 High-Speed Hair Dryer, Laifen AutoCurl Curling Iron, and Laifen Glowy Vanity Mirror.
Together, the three products create what Laifen calls an at-home beauty ecosystem. The Swift 4 is designed to dry and condition hair using an oil-infused airflow system. AutoCurl automates the process of wrapping hair around a heated barrel, while the Glowy Vanity Mirror provides adjustable, daylight-like illumination and hands-free operation.
Each product targets a different consumer frustration: long drying times, the learning curve and risks associated with curling irons, and poor lighting when applying makeup or examining skin.
Laifen plans to showcase all three products during a media event in New York City on September 17. GearBrain will get a first look at the new lineup later this month. Until we can evaluate them in person, the following guide explains their announced features, specifications, availability, and important limitations.
Laifen Swift 4: Drying and hair treatment in one device
The Swift 4 represents the next generation of Laifen’s high-speed hair dryer. Its most distinctive feature is a Nourishing Mode that attempts to combine hair drying with the application of a hair oil or serum.
The system uses a specialized Nourishing Nozzle and a removable Nourishing Pod. Users add a compatible hair-care liquid to the pod, and the dryer distributes it through the hair using a controlled flow of warm air.
Laifen says Nourishing Mode uses controlled airflow at approximately 58 degrees Celsius, or 136 degrees Fahrenheit, to turn the oil into a fine mist and spread it more evenly through the hair. The goal is to simplify a routine that would normally require drying the hair first and then applying a separate oil or serum.
This feature could help users achieve more uniform coverage while reducing the amount of product concentrated in one area. However, buyers should follow Laifen’s instructions closely and confirm which oils or serums can be used safely in the Nourishing Pod. Consumers should not assume that every essential oil, treatment, or styling liquid is suitable for use in a heated appliance.
High-speed motor and ionic hair care
The Swift 4 uses a 115,000 RPM high-speed motor that produces airflow of up to 23 meters per second. Laifen claims this airflow can dry hair in as little as 90 seconds, although actual drying time will depend on hair length, thickness, texture, moisture level, and the selected airflow setting.
The dryer provides two airflow speeds and six temperature options, giving users a choice between faster drying and more controlled styling. Its temperature-monitoring system checks heat as many as 1,000 times per second, according to Laifen, to help maintain a consistent temperature and reduce exposure to excessive heat.
Along with the Nourishing Mode, the Swift 4 generates both negative and positive ions. Laifen lists 400 million negative ions and 70 million positive ions. The company says this combination helps neutralize static, smooth frizz, and support the distribution or absorption of hair-care ingredients.
Ionic technology is common in modern hair dryers, but the results can vary by hair type. GearBrain will need to test the Swift 4 to determine whether its unusually high advertised ion output creates a noticeable improvement in smoothness, shine, static control, or product absorption.
The dryer has an aluminum-alloy body and weighs approximately 0.89 pounds, or 407 grams, without its cord. Its listed dimensions are approximately 10.9 by 2.8 by 3.5 inches. Laifen will offer it in Polished Platinum, Polished Titanium, and Polished Burgundy.
Depending on the final U.S. package, buyers may receive a standard styling nozzle, Nourishing Nozzle, Nourishing Pods, and potentially additional styling attachments. Consumers should check the exact contents of the U.S. package because Laifen’s international bundles differ by market.
U.S. pricing and a firm retail availability date for the Swift 4 were not included in Laifen’s announcement.
Who is the Swift 4 designed for?
The Swift 4 could appeal to people who already use a hair oil or serum after washing their hair and want to combine that treatment with the drying process. Its high-speed motor may also interest users with long or thick hair who want to reduce drying time.
Buyers should consider several questions before ordering:
- Which hair oils and serums are approved for the Nourishing Pod?
- How frequently will the pod and nozzle need to be cleaned?
- Are replacement pods reusable or disposable?
- Will additional pods be sold separately?
- Which nozzles are included in the U.S. package?
- Is the U.S. model dual-voltage for international travel?
At least some international Swift 4 models are not dual-voltage, so travelers should verify the voltage rating of the U.S. version rather than relying on specifications from another country.
Laifen AutoCurl: Automatic curling with tangle protection
Laifen’s second new product is the AutoCurl Curling Iron, an automatic styling tool designed to reduce the manual work involved in creating curls.
Instead of requiring the user to wrap a section of hair around an exposed barrel, AutoCurl uses an enclosed dual-chamber design. The user places a strand of hair into the guide, and the device detects its position in as little as 0.5 seconds. It then determines the appropriate rotation direction and draws the hair around the heated barrel.
The system is designed to recognize which side of the user’s head the hair comes from, eliminating the need to manually switch between left and right rotation for each section. This could make it easier to create curls that flow away from the face on both sides.
AutoCurl provides two operating options. In Auto Mode, the device manages the rotation, direction, and curling time. In Manual Mode, users have more control over when the barrel rotates and how the finished curl is formed.
According to Laifen, a typical curl cycle takes approximately 16 seconds. Users insert a strand, allow the device to form the curl, and then release it.
Resistance sensing may help prevent tangles
Automatic curling irons can be intimidating because hair is pulled into a heated chamber where the user cannot see the entire strand. Laifen attempts to address that concern with a high-precision micro-servo motor that monitors resistance while the hair is moving.
If the system detects unexpected tension, it can adjust or pause the motor to help prevent tangling and pulling. This is an important feature, but consumers should still use manageable sections of brushed, dry hair and follow the instructions concerning strand thickness and placement.
The AutoCurl is designed for hair measuring approximately 9.8 to 23.6 inches, or 25 to 60 centimeters. People with very short hair may not have enough length to feed a strand into the chamber properly.
Its enclosed design may reduce accidental contact with the heated barrel, although it does not eliminate the need for careful handling. Users should keep the device away from the scalp, allow it to cool before storage, and never leave it unattended while connected to power.
AutoCurl temperature and barrel specifications
AutoCurl uses a 1.25-inch, or 32mm, barrel, which is generally suited to creating loose curls and waves rather than very tight ringlets.
Dual ceramic PTC heating elements bring the curling iron to its selected temperature in approximately 50 seconds. Users can choose from three settings:
- 320°F for lower-temperature styling
- 356°F for a balance of heat and hold
- 392°F for hair that requires a higher styling temperature
Laifen says its temperature-control system monitors heat up to 1,000 times per second to maintain even styling conditions. The device also generates 200 million negative ions, which the company says can reduce static and frizz while improving shine.
As with any heated styling tool, the highest setting will not be appropriate for everyone. People with fine, bleached, chemically treated, or heat-damaged hair should generally begin with the lowest effective temperature and use a suitable heat-protection product.
AutoCurl weighs approximately 0.86 pounds, or 388 grams, without its cord. Its safety features include a sleep mode after 60 seconds of inactivity and an automatic shutoff after 30 minutes. It accepts 110-240V input, making it more travel-friendly, although users may still need a plug adapter outside the United States.
At the time of publication, Laifen’s U.S. website lists AutoCurl in pink and white for $99.99, with a promotional price of $84.99. Pricing can change, so buyers should confirm the current offer before ordering. The listed package includes the curling iron and two hair clips.
Laifen Glowy Vanity Mirror: Daylight-style illumination with radar sensing
The Laifen Glowy Vanity Mirror brings the company’s technology-focused approach to makeup application, skin care, grooming, and other detail-oriented tasks.
It uses an 8.5-inch mirror surrounded by full-spectrum LED lighting. Laifen describes the illumination as studio-grade and designed to replicate natural daylight, helping users see skin tones, makeup colors, and fine details more accurately than they might under a warm bathroom bulb or overhead fixture.
Laifen’s international product information lists a color-rendering rating of Ra97, while some of its European launch materials reference CRI 98. Both figures indicate high color accuracy, but GearBrain will seek clarification about the final rating for the U.S. model.
The mirror produces up to 650 lux of illumination, according to Laifen. The surrounding light is designed to provide an even, shadow-reducing glow rather than concentrating light from one direction.
Users can adjust the brightness and color temperature for different conditions. The built-in Smart Memory Function remembers the previous settings, eliminating the need to reconfigure the light every time the mirror is switched on.
Hands-free activation using 24 GHz radar
Instead of relying solely on a touch-sensitive control, the Glowy Vanity Mirror includes a 24 GHz radar sensor. When the sensor detects someone approaching, it can turn on the light using the person’s previously selected brightness and color-temperature settings.
When the user moves away, the mirror can turn itself off automatically. This hands-free operation could be useful when someone has makeup, lotion, moisturizer, or another product on their hands.
The radar is being used as a proximity and presence sensor, not as a camera. Based on the announced specifications, the mirror does not capture images, provide facial recognition, connect to a mobile app, or integrate with Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple Home. It is “smart” because of its automatic sensing and memory functions, not because it is a connected smart-home device.
The mirror has a 5,500mAh rechargeable battery and charges through USB-C. It can also operate while charging, providing flexibility between cordless use and permanent placement near an outlet.
Laifen lists an aluminum construction and an IPX4 water-resistance rating for versions sold in other markets. IPX4 indicates protection against splashing water, but it does not make the mirror waterproof. It should not be submerged, placed where it can fall into a sink or bathtub, or exposed directly to a shower stream.
The Glowy Vanity Mirror will be available beginning September 4 through Laifen’s website. U.S. pricing and final color choices were not included in the launch announcement.
What buyers should know about Laifen’s new beauty ecosystem
Although Laifen presents these products as a connected beauty routine, they do not appear to exchange data or communicate with one another. There is no announced Laifen app connecting the dryer, curler, and mirror, nor has the company disclosed smart-home integration.
The “ecosystem” is therefore a coordinated group of personal-care products covering consecutive parts of a routine:
- The Swift 4 dries hair and distributes a hair-care product.
- AutoCurl creates curls or waves with automated rotation.
- The Glowy Vanity Mirror provides controlled lighting for makeup, skin care, and final styling.
Consumers can buy any one of the products without owning the other two.
Laifen’s approach is notable because it applies sensors, motor control, temperature management, and automated operation to practical beauty problems. However, several important questions remain, particularly around U.S. pricing, included accessories, replacement Nourishing Pods, approved hair treatments, battery runtime for the mirror, and warranty coverage for each product.
GearBrain’s early take
On paper, the AutoCurl may have the broadest immediate appeal because its specifications, price, safety features, and U.S. availability are already clear. Its ability to sense hair placement and stop when it detects resistance could make curling more approachable for people who struggle with traditional irons.
The Swift 4 introduces the most unusual innovation. Combining high-speed drying with controlled oil or serum distribution could streamline a common hair-care routine, but the results will depend on how evenly the system applies products, how easy the pod is to fill and clean, and whether it produces a noticeable improvement in hair condition.
The Glowy Vanity Mirror offers a more subtle form of automation. High-color-accuracy lighting, automatic activation, memory settings, cordless operation, and water resistance could make it convenient for a bathroom or vanity, but brightness, sensor behavior, battery life, reflection quality, and stability will need to be tested.
