Report: Apple launching a Siri Speaker next week

Siri Speaker Apple has put a new smart speaker, powered by Siri, into production reports Bloomberg. With Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference starting Monday, the speaker is likely to be announced during the week-long event. Apple sometimes reveals new products and technology at the five-day conference—although fall is also a favored time for the Cupertino, Ca-based company.

With this year the 10th year anniversary of the Apple iPhone launch, there is an expectation a new iPhone is in the offering. But a smart speaker—along the lines of Amazon Echo or Google Home—appears to be definitely in the works. Apple's device, however, reportedly will differ from its competitors in that it will link up with Apple's own iOS devices. That connection will be key for Apple which is pushing fairly late in the game with its smart home system, HomeKit. Whatever Apple releases, the company's user (i.e. fan) base is hungry for any information that hints at Apple's next lineup, as always.

Nest IQSmart home device maker Nest has a new security camera called the Nest Cam IQ that looks a bit like the alien from the Looney Toons universe. A rounded head sits perched on a single stem, which supports the dual 4K camera and speaker. The smart home gadget is available for pre-order for $299, with shipping expected to start by the end of June, early July.
