Robot vacuums have become increasingly sophisticated, but the Roborock Saros 20 takes automation to another level. This premium robot vacuum and mop combines 36,000 Pa HyperForce suction, StarSight Autonomous System 2.0, AdaptiLift Chassis 3.0, AI-powered cleaning, an automated multifunctional dock, remote camera viewing, and smart home integration.
It also comes with a premium price: $1,599.99.
I tested the Saros 20 for several months in a home that presents plenty of real-world challenges for a robot vacuum. We had a dog in the house, little kids, and the inevitable pet hair, crumbs, food, and toys that seem to appear everywhere.
Overall, the Saros 20 performed well. I was particularly impressed by its strong but surprisingly quiet vacuuming, obstacle avoidance, battery life, easy mapping, mop cleaning system and remote viewing capability.
However, our testing also uncovered some limitations—particularly when crossing one unusually high doorway saddle and when trying to connect the Saros 20 to different smart home platforms.

What is the Roborock Saros 20?
The Roborock Saros 20 is a premium robot vacuum and mop designed to automate almost every aspect of floor cleaning.
Roborock describes it as an "ultra-thin flagship robotic vacuum" designed to adapt to different heights, surfaces, and cleaning scenarios. At just 7.95 cm (3.13 inches) tall, it is designed to reach underneath beds, sofas and other furniture where taller robot vacuums may not fit.

Setting Up the Roborock Saros 20
Setup was relatively straightforward, particularly when it came to mapping our home.
I found creating the room map easy using the Roborock app. Once the robot understands your floor plan, you can use the app to customize how and where it cleans.
SmartPlan 3.0 is designed to take this automation further by analyzing your home, routines and flooring and adjusting cleaning behavior accordingly.
The Saros 20 supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi.
One thing I appreciated after several months of testing was how little attention the robot required once everything was configured. That's an important consideration with an expensive robot vacuum: you're paying not only for cleaning performance but also for convenience.

36,000 Pa Suction Handles Pet Hair and Everyday Messes
The Saros 20 produces 36,000 Pa of HyperForce suction, which is one of its headline features and is confirmed in Roborock's product specifications.
Our test environment gave it plenty to clean.
With a dog and little kids in the home, pet hair, crumbs and food had a way of showing up everywhere. The Saros 20 performed well picking up these everyday messes.
The strong suction was particularly useful for pet hair.
What surprised me most, though, wasn't simply the suction power. It was the noise level.
Even when I had the Saros 20 operating at its highest suction setting, I found it relatively quiet. That's a significant advantage if you want your robot vacuum cleaning while you're home rather than scheduling everything for when the house is empty.
AdaptiLift Chassis 3.0: Impressive Technology, But Our High Saddle Was a Challenge
One of the Saros 20's most interesting features is AdaptiLift Chassis 3.0.
Roborock says the system can cross a single vertical threshold up to 4.5 cm (1.77 inches) and double-layer thresholds measuring up to 8.8 cm (3.46 inches) combined. The chassis can also dynamically adjust its height while cleaning carpets.
This was a feature I was particularly interested in testing because our home has unusually high doorway saddles.
Our kitchen has radiant heat, which raises the floor approximately 1.5 inches, or about 3.84 cm. The resulting transition between rooms has proven difficult for robot vacuums we've tested in the past.
The Saros 20 could navigate the saddle, but it wasn't flawless. It sometimes struggled and occasionally got stuck.
That's an important real-world qualification to Roborock's specification. A threshold's published height doesn't tell the entire story. Its shape, angle, material and the flooring on either side can affect whether a robot can successfully cross it.
We've previously tested robot vacuums that could get over this saddle in one direction only to become stuck trying to return. The Saros 20 performed better in some situations, but owners with unusually high or difficult transitions should not assume that AdaptiLift will eliminate every threshold problem.
StarSight Autonomous System 2.0 Was Excellent Around Toys
The Saros 20 uses StarSight Autonomous System 2.0 for navigation and obstacle recognition.
The system combines 3D ToF and RGB sensing and can recognize more than 300 types of objects.
Roborock says StarSight gathers three-dimensional environmental information using more than 21,600 sensor points at a 38,400 Hz sampling frequency.
Those numbers sound impressive, but what matters is what happens in a real house.
This was another area where the Saros 20 performed particularly well.
My grandkids' toys inevitably ended up on the floor, and the Saros 20 did a good job recognizing and maneuvering around them. StarSight also came in handy when navigating around our kitchen chairs.
For homes with children or pets, reliable obstacle avoidance can be just as important as suction power. A robot vacuum isn't particularly autonomous if you have to walk around the house picking up every object before starting a cleaning cycle.
Mopping Was Effective—and Surprisingly Quiet
The Saros 20 uses dual spinning mops, and I was pleased with its mopping performance.
Again, one of the things that stood out was how quietly it operated. The Saros 20 was quiet when vacuuming, and I also found it very quiet while mopping our floors.
The AdaptiLift system can dynamically adjust the robot's body height on carpeting, and Roborock says the system is designed to maintain optimal suction on carpets with pile heights up to 3 cm.
The Dock Cleans the Mops With 212°F Water
Another feature I particularly liked was how the multifunctional dock maintains the mop pads.
The dock washes the mops using water heated to 100°C (212°F). Roborock says the high-temperature water is designed to help break down grease and stubborn dirt.
It then uses 55°C (131°F) hot air for drying. The dock also has a fresh-air dust bag drying system, something the Saros 20 has that several models compared on Roborock's one-sheet don't offer.
I liked this approach during testing. If you're going to have a robot repeatedly mop your floors, you don't want it starting its next cleaning cycle with dirty mop pads.
Remote Viewing Turns the Saros 20 Into a Mobile Home Camera
One of my favorite secondary features has little to do with cleaning.
The Saros 20's RGB camera can be accessed through the Roborock app for remote viewing.
Using the app's remote-control feature, I could manually drive the Saros 20 around a room while seeing what the robot sees through its camera.
In a way, this allows the Saros 20 to function as a mobile security or monitoring camera.
I wouldn't consider it a replacement for a dedicated security camera system, but it could be useful if you're away and want to check a room or see what your pet is doing.
Instead of having a fixed view like a conventional indoor camera, you can move the Saros around the room to see different areas.
For pet owners in particular, that's a useful bonus feature.
Smart Home Compatibility: Good on Paper, More Complicated in Practice
The Saros 20 is designed to work beyond the Roborock app and can be integrated into a smart home.
It supports Amazon Alexa and other smart home integrations, and it is Matter compatible. The Saros 20 also includes Roborock's built-in "Hello Rocky" voice assistant.
However, this was one area where my real-world experience didn't match the simplicity I expected.
I was able to pair the Saros 20 with Amazon Alexa and use Siri Shortcuts.
Alexa was relatively straightforward.
Other integrations were less obvious.
I was surprised that I couldn't find Matter compatibility or Home Assistant integration clearly identified inside the Roborock app. Google Home/Google Assistant integration wasn't as easy for me as Alexa or Siri either.
Roborock provides tutorials explaining how to connect the Saros 20 with Google's platforms, but I found the instructions difficult to read on a smartphone.
This is an area where Roborock could improve the app experience. If a $1,599 robot vacuum supports multiple smart home ecosystems, those integrations should be easy for the average consumer to find and configure.

Battery Life
The Saros 20 has a 6,400 mAh battery, according to Roborock's specifications.
Battery life was excellent during my testing, and I never felt that runtime was a significant limitation.
That's particularly useful in larger homes or when asking the Saros 20 to vacuum and mop multiple rooms during the same cleaning session.
What I Liked About the Roborock Saros 20
After several months of testing, several things stood out:
- Strong 36,000 Pa suction: It performed well with pet hair, crumbs and food in a busy household.
- Quiet operation: I was impressed by how quiet it remained while vacuuming—even at maximum suction—and while mopping.
- Excellent obstacle avoidance: StarSight 2.0 did a good job navigating around my grandkids' toys and our kitchen chairs.
- Easy mapping: Creating our floor map in the Roborock app was straightforward.
- Good battery life: The Saros could handle extended cleaning sessions without battery life becoming an issue.
- Hot-water mop cleaning: I liked knowing the dock was washing the mops using water heated to 212°F.
- Remote viewing: Being able to drive the robot around remotely and see through its camera adds an interesting home-monitoring capability.
- Smart home potential: Alexa, Siri Shortcuts, Matter and other ecosystem integrations give owners options beyond the Roborock app.
What I Didn't Like
There are two issues buyers should consider.
The first is smart home setup. Alexa and Siri Shortcuts were accessible during testing, but some of the other integrations weren't nearly as obvious. Matter and Home Assistant support were difficult to find in the Roborock app, and Google's setup tutorials weren't particularly easy to follow on a smartphone.
The second—and much bigger consideration—is price.
At $1,599.99, the Roborock Saros 20 is expensive.
There is no getting around that.
You're receiving a lot for the money: powerful suction, advanced navigation, automated mop maintenance, excellent battery life, sophisticated obstacle recognition, remote viewing and extensive automation.
But $1,599.99 puts the Saros 20 firmly into premium appliance territory.
What Other Roborock Saros 20 Owners Are Saying
Our experience with the Roborock Saros 20 isn't the only perspective buyers should consider. We also looked at feedback from Saros 20 owners to see how their experiences compared with what we found during several months of testing.
Several owners praised many of the same features that stood out in our test home. Quiet operation, quick and accurate mapping, strong suction, effective mopping and intelligent navigation were recurring positives. One owner with five young children and multiple pets was particularly impressed by how quietly the Saros 20 operated compared with an older Roborock, while also praising its suction, rotating mops, edge-cleaning brush and mapping.
Another owner praised the Saros 20's low-profile design for reaching underneath furniture that previous robot vacuums couldn't access. That buyer also found initial mapping extremely quick and accurate and liked the automatic mop-pad detachment, particularly because they have a furry dog and didn't want dirty mop pads dragged across carpeting.
Not every owner's experience has been as positive, however. One buyer thought the Saros 20 performed much better on solid floors than carpet and reported problems picking up some debris and with pet avoidance. Another owner initially liked the robot's cleaning performance, quiet operation, and dock but experienced a main-brush error shortly after the Amazon return period and questioned the product's long-term durability and repair process.
Another dissatisfied buyer reported problems picking up dog hair and debris from carpet, uneven mopping, and inconsistent obstacle avoidance. That same owner, however, praised Roborock's privacy and security approach to remote camera viewing, including the requirement to enable the feature in the app and physically activate it on the robot, as well as an audible announcement when remote viewing is active.
The takeaway: Buyer feedback suggests the Saros 20 can deliver excellent results, particularly in homes with hard floors, pets and furniture that benefit from its low-profile design. But experiences aren't completely consistent, especially with carpet cleaning, pet hair, obstacle avoidance and reliability. At $1,599.99, those inconsistencies matter because buyers should reasonably expect excellent performance from a robot vacuum at this price.
Who Should Buy the Roborock Saros 20?
The Saros 20 makes the most sense for households that will actually benefit from its advanced capabilities.
Pet owners should appreciate the strong suction and obstacle avoidance. Families with young children may appreciate StarSight's ability to recognize and avoid toys. Larger homes can benefit from the battery capacity and automated dock, while smart home users get several integration options.
It's also appealing to someone who wants a robot vacuum that requires relatively little day-to-day attention.
If you simply need a robot to vacuum a few rooms once or twice a week, however, it's difficult to justify spending $1,599.99.

GearBrain Verdict: Is the Roborock Saros 20 Worth It?
After using the Roborock Saros 20 for several months, I came away impressed.
Our test home wasn't particularly easy. We had a dog, young children, toys, chairs, food, pet hair and an unusually high transition into our radiant-heated kitchen. That's a much more meaningful test than running a robot vacuum around an empty room.
The Saros 20 handled most of those challenges well.
Its 36,000 Pa suction did a good job cleaning pet hair and everyday debris, while StarSight 2.0 proved effective at navigating around toys and furniture. I was impressed by how quiet the Saros remained even at maximum suction, and its mopping operation was similarly unobtrusive.
The multifunctional dock's 212°F mop washing is another feature I appreciated, and battery life was excellent. Remote viewing through the robot's camera was an unexpected bonus that could be particularly useful for pet owners.
The AdaptiLift Chassis 3.0 wasn't perfect in our home. Our approximately 1.5-inch-high kitchen transition occasionally caused problems despite falling within Roborock's stated single-threshold specification. That's a reminder that threshold height alone doesn't determine whether a robot will successfully navigate a transition.
Smart home integration could also be easier. Alexa and Siri Shortcuts worked for me, but finding and configuring some of the other advertised integrations wasn't as intuitive as I expected.
That leaves price as the biggest question.
At $1,599.99, the Roborock Saros 20 isn't for everyone. But if you have the budget and want a powerful, intelligent robot vacuum and mop with strong pet-hair performance, excellent battery life, advanced navigation, automated mop cleaning and some genuinely useful extras, I think it's a good investment.
