Yale door lock with Doorbird system

Yale and August smart locks now work with Doorbird systems

Doorbird users can now unlock their doors if locked with a Yale or August smart lock, through a new partnership. The Yale and August smart locks that will work are those that connect via Wi-Fi, and the new features will allow those with both systems to get alerts when people are near a front door — and even unlock the doors for them.

People must have a Doorbird IP Video Door Station, and also one of the following locks — the August Wi-Fi Smart Lock, the Yale Assure Locks and Levers with Wi-Fi or any August Smart Lock with a Wi-Fi Connect — for the integration to come together. But this is just the latest for August and Yale which already link up to a number of smart devices as well as smart assistants and their systems including Google Home, Amazon Alexa and also Apple HomeKit. The locks also work with systems from IFTTT to Z-Wave as well.

And the companies have also expanded beyond supporting front door locks to help lock up cabinets, such as the Yale Smart Cabinet Lock and the Yale Smart Delivery Box.

The new integration is not limited to front doors, but to any door with one of these locks installed. And people can also hold two-way conversations with anyone who has rung their doorbell, and from there direct them to another entrance. That's helpful, for example, if someone is making a delivery. Packages can then be left inside a garage or a front gate secured with one of the August or Yale locks, which can then be remotely unlocked.

Crucially, all of these controls can be managed through the Doorbird IP Video Door Station and Doorbird app, minimizing the number of apps people need to use. Those with both devices can start using the features this week.
