The latest Lutron Caséta smart plug is what you need for outdoor living
Since entertaining outside is literally all you'll be doing for the near future, Lutron is giving you its latest, the Caséta Outdoor Smart Plug. You probably already know Lutron: the company literally invented the lighting dimmer switch and made it a feature of American households. Now, its growing Caséta line of smart-switch products are reinventing smart home lighting with easy-to-use and install products that pretty much work with everything and don't need to connect to your Wi-Fi.
The Caséta Outdoor Smart Plug is pretty standard in its shape and look — but that's a good thing. It is here to do one thing and one thing well: power outdoor devices like string lights, pathway lighting, inflatables, motors and pumps all the time and in all weather, controllable from the Lutron app. The box withstands cold, heat, dust, rain, ice, and anything mother nature and throw at it. But best of all, like all Caséta products it does not require a Wi-Fi connection to operate.
As you'd expect, the Caséta Outdoor Smart Plug works all the smart home platforms such as Amazon Alexa, Apple Homekit, Google Assistant, and Ring video doorbells and cameras. It's also got a pretty smart hack with Ring: By connecting to a Ring camera, the Caséta Outdoor Smart Plug can be set to turn on when motion is detected outside, right from the Lutron app.
The beauty of this thing is it's almost ridiculous simplicity. It works with everything and brings smart control to anything you need to power outside your home. And because it does this without riding on your Wi-Fi, it won't fail when your network is down and won't gum it up or slow it down when it's up.
At a time when we're all entertaining outside, it looks like a trouble-free solution to outdoor lighting.
