Porsche has entered the e-bike business with a pair of electric bicycles built to match its new Taycan Cross Turismo EV.

The Cross Turismo is a wagon version of Porsche's existing Taycan electric car, with an elongated roofline, 3.6 inches of extra headroom for rear seat passengers, and a larger trunk. It also features a bike rack that attaches to the rear bumper.

Although you could fit your own bikes to the rack, Porsche this week revealed a pair of its own. Called the Porsche eBike Sport and eBike Cross, they both feature front and rear suspension and frames built from carbon fiber.

Said to be inspired by the design of the Taycan EV, the bikes feature an electric drive system by Shimano, along with a digital color display showing speed, distance and ride mode. Designed to assist while you pedal, the bike has a top speed of around 15mph.

Designed to be as sleek as possible, the bike's gear shift cables and brake lines are smartly hidden inside the handlebars, while the disc brakes come from Magura.

Porsche is offering two versions of the bike and, as you might well expect given the company and carbon construction, the price is hefty. The eBike Cross is the more affordable of the two, at $8,549, while the eBike Sport comes in at $10,700. The former is designed for rougher terrain, while the eBike Sport is intended for road use.

They will both be available from select Porsche dealerships later in the spring and are offered in three frame sizes.

As for the new Tayan Cross Turismo, Porsche's latest electric car is priced from $90,900. Just like the original Taycan, there are four versions to pick from. The first is called the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, and unlike the single-motor entry-level Taycan, it has two motors and all-wheel-drive. This is followed by a more powerful 4S Cross Turismo, and then the flagship offerings are the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S Cross Turismo, the latter boasting 750 horsepower.

Although not an off-roader as such, Porsche says the Cross Turismo with its extra ride height is designed to tackle loose surfaces like mud and sand – perfect for navigating a campsite or heading out onto the beach.
