2. Temperature Control

Once the fire is established, the grill uses electricity to operate the controller, auger, and fan. The load often becomes much lower, but it is not fixed. Cold air, wind, frequent lid openings, and higher cooking temperatures can make the grill work harder.

3. Shutdown

A pellet grill may continue to run its fan after cooking to complete the shutdown cycle. Do not unplug the grill the moment the food is finished. Reserve enough power for the manufacturer’s normal shutdown process.

This is why a cook should be planned from start to finish. The battery must cover more than the first few minutes of ignition and more than the advertised cooking time.

That can work for a short event, but it makes runtime less predictable. If the cook is long or the weather is poor, reserve the battery for the grill first. Use a separate source for accessories whenever possible.

Set Up the Battery With the Grill in Mind
