7 locks you open with just the touch of your finger

Biometric locks for securing bikes, lockers and more

While most locks use physical keys to open them, some are now able to unlock with just a touch of the finger. These devices, made for bikes, lockers and more, make use of a technology called biometrics, which taps into the unique identifier each person has from the scan of their iris to their fingerprint.

There are seven on our list — two we've tested ourselves — that can work to secure a gate, a bike, a scooter and your locker at school or the gym. All but one is under $100, and some are from names with a rich history in keeping what you value secure.
