Amazon Prime Day 2018
The biggest sales from the biggest online retailer are here
UPDATED July 17, 2018: Amazon Prime Day is the shopping day of the year for online buyers — a date that's usually kept secret until just a few days before deals drop. For 2018, Prime Day will start at 12pm PT / 3pm ET on Monday July 16 — and run a heroic 36 hours, six hours longer than 2017.
Amazon revealed the date on July 3 and said deals will be available to Prime members in 17 countries. The sales event is in its fourth year and will focus more on Amazon's own products than ever before. The company said there are double the deals on Alexa-based speakers and Fire devices compared to 2017 Amazon also said there will be more deals available exclusively by speaking to Alexa than ever before. Links below go live to the deals when Prime Day starts at 12 pm PT Monday July 16.
The only caveat: Prime Day deals are available to Prime members of course, so before you can even getting in on the deals, you have to make a choice as to whether you'll sign up or not. But as we noted last year, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial, and just cancel. You can also take advantage of Amazon's Key Home Kit, which works with specific smart locks from Kwikset and Yale, to have the deliveries dropped off inside your home.
Last year's date of July 10th — the second Tuesday in July — would make it July 11th this year. But that's also the date of the World Cup Semi-finals, which for some people will likely be a bit more diverting than a discounted Amazon Echo. With the World Cup Final scheduled for July 15th, starting Prime Day the following day may have felt for Amazon, a better (and safer) bet.
Some deals have already been announced, and we'll be updating this article as more become available.
