GoPro action cameras often receive healthy discounts during the Black Friday sales, and for 2019 it's no different.

Even as we write this article, more than two weeks before Black Friday itself (November 29), we've found a range of deals and discounts to take advantage of.

These are from a range of bid-name retailers like Target and Walmart, plus GoPro's own online store, which is offering a $100 discount on its latest flagship camera, the Hero8 Black, when you trade in any other camera - even if it is old and broken.

While it's tempting to go for the newest and the best, the Hero8 Black, the last couple of generations of GoPro have features excellent video recordings, and last year's Hero7 includes the same HyperSmooth image stabilization feature as the Hero8.

You should ask yourself what features you need from the camera (4K video, slow-motion, waterproofing etc) then pick the GoPro which meets those needs, rather than the one with every feature. Also look out for deals on bundles, where a spare battery (very useful), microSD card and tripod or head strap might be thrown in for free.
