Over the past few years, I’ve tested smart audio glasses from brands like Vue, Ray-Ban Meta, Echo Frames, and others. Most offered basic audio features—letting you stream music or take calls hands-free through standard-looking eyewear outfitted with blue light, prescription, or sunglass lenses. While convenient, the sound quality often left something to be desired. Later models introduced built-in cameras for hands-free photo capture, marking a step forward. But now, with the rise of artificial intelligence and large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT and Google Gemini, smartglasses are entering a new era. Solos recently provided me with a pair of their new AirGo3 smartglasses, which take this category to the next level—combining advanced AI, hands-free usability, and real-world functionality into one of the most innovative and versatile wearables I’ve tested to date.

Getting started with Solos AirGo3 is quick and intuitive:

  1. Download the Solos AirGo App (available for both iOS and Android).
  2. Pair the Glasses via Bluetooth using the virtual button on the temple.
  3. Choose Your Frame: Select and attach your preferred frame style—camera-enabled or standard. (Note: for our test, we did not have the camera feature.)
  4. Enable Always-On Mode: Launch the app once; it will run in the background to keep smart features operational.
  5. Customize Your Experience: Configure audio settings, notifications, and AI preferences directly in the app.

How Much Do Solos AirGo3 Smartglasses Cost?

As of May 2025, Solos AirGo3 smartglasses retail for $249 to $299, depending on the frame style and configuration. This includes access to SolosChat 2.0 and SolosTranslate features, and all purchases come with the ability to switch between different frame types. Optional accessories and extended hinge options may be sold separately.

Is this price reasonable? Compared to other smartglasses on the market, the AirGo3 offers a good value for the price, especially considering its multi-AI compatibility, advanced audio system, and modular, fashion-forward design. When factoring in its real-time AI functions, voice assistant integrations, and Whisper technology, it delivers a robust experience that surpasses the capabilities of basic smart eyewear or smart audio glasses with interchangeable lenses.

My Thoughts

After testing the Solos AirGo3 smartglasses over several months in a variety of settings—including my daily train and subway commute, time spent at the office, and while exercising outdoors—I can confidently say they’re among the most well-rounded smartglasses I’ve tried. The sound quality is the best I’ve experienced from any smartglasses to date, comparable to what you’d expect from solid open-ear headphones, such as those from Soundcore or SoundPEATS. One tip I strongly recommend: take the hearing test offered through the Solos app. It fine-tunes the audio levels to your specific hearing profile, optimizing the listening experience.

The AirGo3 smartglasses are lightweight, making them comfortable for all-day wear, and their battery life is solid, roughly equivalent to what I typically get from my wireless earbuds. The Solos app is essential for unlocking the full potential of the glasses. Through it, you can configure settings, take the hearing test, and activate AI-driven features, such as SolosTranslate and Whisper notifications. I found the app intuitive and easy to navigate, and it conveniently kept a log of my AI conversations.

The AI functionality performed great once I got it up and running, especially when I was driving or in situations where I couldn’t easily reach for my phone. However, one drawback is that after interacting with the AI, I had to manually restart my music on my phone, which somewhat interrupted the hands-free experience. Additionally, I recommend ensuring that you have the "always on" setting for location services in the Solos app on your smartphone. It helps the experience.

One of the standout features of the Solos AirGo3 is its customization. You can choose from various frame styles and lenses, including prescription lenses, sunglasses, progressives, and blue-light filtering lenses. If you're going the prescription route, you can upload your RX directly on the Solos website, which also provides detailed ordering info—something I suggest reviewing carefully before purchasing.

That said, don't expect immersive, noise-isolating sound like you’d get with over-ear headphones. These are open-ear audio glasses, which means you'll still be able to hear the environment around you—a plus for safety when you're out and about. However, keep in mind that in quiet public places, such as elevators or trains, others may be able to hear your audio, so be mindful of the volume.

So, who are these smartglasses for? I’d recommend the AirGo3 to anyone who needs hands-free access to AI, whether you’re a frequent traveler requiring real-time translations, an outdoor runner or walker who wears prescription or sunglasses, or even a tech-savvy office worker who wants to listen to music or take calls discreetly while staying aware of their surroundings.

The price is reasonable, especially considering the range of features. For those seeking a camera-equipped model to rival Ray-Ban Meta smartglasses, Solos offers the AirGo V, which features a camera and USB-C charging capabilities. All in all, the Solos AirGo3 smartglasses are a thoughtful blend of function, comfort, and AI innovation—and easily one of the most practical and enjoyable wearable tech products I’ve used.

With features such as custom audio tuning, seamless AI integration, and lens options tailored to every lifestyle, they cater to a diverse range of users without compromising on performance. While there are a few minor quirks—such as needing the app to utilize the smartglasses features—the overall experience is smooth, intuitive, and practical.
