Over the past few months, portable power stations are one product category we have seen grow. These new powerful and connected smart devices seem very popular with consumers who like camping or living off the grid. They also come in handy for those summer nights that bring thunderstorms and power outages to your home. And with more of us working from home or remotely, it's nice to have a portable power station to keep your devices charged while working outside, away from home, or when traveling. Some portable power stations can be used on airplanes, trains, and cars. We recently tested a new portable power station with intelligent mobile app control. It's the new Ampace Andes 600 Pro, and here is what we found while testing this new powerful connected power station.

The Ampace Andes 600 Pro is a portable power station that offers 600 watts of continuous power and 1800 watts of surge power. It has a LiFePO4 hybrid battery system with 584Wh capacity, which is a safe and long-lasting battery type. Note that LiFePO4 batteries are very safe, and if used once a day, their capacity can still be 80% of the standard capacity after ten years. Not bad. Also, it is fireproof and explosion-proof, resistant to both high and low temperatures, which range from -10 ℃ ~45 ℃ charging and -20 ℃ ~45 ℃. It's a powerful outdoor power supply for all extreme environments.

The Andes 600 Pro also has a variety of output ports, including 2x AC outlets, 2x USB-A (18W), 1x USB-C (100W), 1x USB-C (60W), 3x DC outputs and 1x Car output port (120W), so that you can power a wide range of devices. It also has a visible LCD screen, a top ambient LED flashlight, a Car jump starter, and a durable and lightweight construction.

Speaking of the Andes 600 Pro design, this portable power station is made with high-quality materials and offers a long lifespan, including in extreme weather conditions. It weighs 16.76 lbs (7.6kg) and measures 285 x 09 x 214 mm. Based on our testing of these devices, this seems to be a standard size and weight for portable power stations.

Recharging your portable power station can take time without good self-charging efficiency. The Ampace Andes 600 Pro comes with an excellent self-charging efficiency feature. It takes only 1 hour to charge the station from 0-80% and 1.5 hours to charge from 0-100% if using an AC charge. (Note: a fast charge feature can power up your 600 Pro in 1.3 hours.) If camping or living off the grid, you can use a solar panel to charge the Andes 600 Pro in 3.5 hours. And if all fails, you can charge the power station fully in 5 hours using your car charger. (Note: while charging the Andes 600 Pro with your car cigarette lighter, you can supply power to other devices.)

Another key feature of this portable power station is the Wi-Fi connectivity. Users can download the Ampace app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) to connect the Andes 600 Pro to their smartphone or mobile device via a Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz) or Bluetooth connection. The Ampace app provides intelligent control that includes power detection, function setting, remote control, firmware upgrade, top ambient light switch, LED light brightness adjustment, operating temperature, output power, screen off time, sleep time, etc.

Testing

When choosing a portable power station, consider several features before buying the device. Buyers should consider the portable power station's size and weight. Do portable power stations come in a variety of sizes and weights? Can you find one that is small enough to be portable but large enough to power the devices you need? And speaking of power output, make sure the portable power station has different power outputs and has enough power to run the devices you need.

Another critical feature when buying a portable power station is the battery type. What type of battery does the portable power station use? Is it a battery that is long-lasting and durable to meet your needs? Also, what are the recharging options for the portable power station? Can it be recharged in a variety of ways, and how fast? Make sure you choose one with a convenient recharging option for you and your devices/appliances.

Lastly, it would be best to consider the price of a portable power station. These devices range in price. Make sure you choose one that fits your budget.

To test the Ampace Andes 600 Pro, we took it to our beach club and used it in a cabana on the beach. The cabana has limited outlets, so a portable power station comes in handy when we run a fan, power up a bunch of phones, and sometimes, power up our laptop since we spent the day working at the beach; that is what we did for our testing and the performance was good. The Ampace Andes 600 Pro Portable Power Station effectively powered up many different devices simultaneously over a long time. We also liked how it provided multiple outlets for various types of connections: two AC outlets, USB ports, and USB-C. And the lights on the power station came in handy during our late nights out. Though we didn't charge the power station using solar panels, we can see how that would be a plus for campers or users off the grid.

During testing, we also liked how easy the screen was to read the settings and keep us posted on the performance of the power station's power. And the app provided us with easy controls on our smartphones. Not many portable power stations offer LED lights.

Overall, the Ampace Andes 600 Pro is a good choice for people who need a portable power station that can power various devices. It is also a good choice for people who need a durable power system that can withstand extreme weather conditions. The lithium iron phosphate battery (LiFePO4 hybrid battery system) can even work in low temperatures, which generally are hard on batteries. We also like the fast recharging (1.3 hours) feature. However, even though lithium iron phosphate batteries tend to be lighter than other batteries, this Ampace Andes 600 Pro is a little heavy (over 16 lbs.), so carrying it around can be a little bit of pain if you have to carry it for a period of time.

Summary

Overall, the Ampace Andes 600 Pro is a good choice for people who need a powerful and versatile portable power station. It is a bit more expensive than other power stations, but it is worth the investment thanks to the high-quality materials and the long lifespan it offers buyers today.

Pros:

  • Powerful and versatile
  • Durable and long-lasting battery
  • Wide range of output ports
  • LED flashlight
  • You can charge the power station using your Car's cigarette lighter

Cons:

  • It is not as portable as some other power stations (heavy)
