This becomes noticeable with accounts created when they were very young. Someone who joined X at seventeen might still have the same account at thirty. That timeline can contain school complaints, old relationships, fandom arguments, jokes between former friends, abandoned plans, and strong opinions about things that barely matter anymore. Keeping a few memories from that period may feel worthwhile. Keeping ten thousand public posts from it is a different question.

Remembering something is different from keeping it searchable. People can keep an archive for themselves without leaving every old thought attached to a public profile. For some users, that is enough reason to delete the posting history and continue using the account normally.
