Ecovacs DEEBOT X2 OMNI Robot Vacuum & Mop Review
First robot vacuum with embedded LiDAR sensor to clean your floors.
First robot vacuum with embedded LiDAR sensor to clean your floors.
We have tested many robot vacuums over the past several years, and the key feature we look forward to is its navigation and how easy it is to set up and use in cleaning the floors in our house. Can you easily set up areas to clean and ones not to clean? Is the app easy to use when setting schedules and rooms to clean? A good robot vacuum should be easy to set up and use. The best robot vacuums have companion apps that allow you to control the vacuum remotely, schedule cleaning sessions, and view cleaning maps. We just finished testing a robot vacuum that does all of this and can also function as a secondary smart home security device in your home. It's Ecovacs DEEBOT X2 MONI Robot Vacuum and Mop, a multi-functioning robot vacuum that can vacuum, mop, and sefl-empty the dirt and water after cleaning and has a camera built-in which adds another layer of security to your home's existing home security system. Check out our full review to see what makes this robot vacuum so special and unique when compared to other robot vacuums with emptying stations.

The DEEBOT X2 OMNI is a premium robotic vacuum and mop that offers a comprehensive cleaning solution for your home. It features a powerful 8000Pa suction power, intelligent mop lifting, and an all-in-one Omni Station with auto-empty hot water mop washing, self-drying, and auto-refill capabilities.
The DEEBOT X2 OMNI has several key features to help you clean and keep your floors in your smart home. It features Dual-laser LiDAR navigation. The DEEBOT X2 OMNI is the first integrated robotic vacuum and mop cleaning solution with a LiDAR sensor fully embedded inside the body. This technology allows the robot to map your home in real-time and avoid obstacles, even in the dark. It also comes with intelligent mop lifting: The DEEBOT X2 OMNI automatically lifts its mop pads when it detects carpet, so you don't have to worry about getting wet.
Other unique features of this DEEBOT robot vacuum come with the all-in-one Omni Station. This unique cleaning station automatically empties the dustbin, uses hot water on the mop pads to wash your floors, dries the pads with hot air, and refills the water tank. This means you won't have to worry about cleaning or maintaining the robot's wet wash pads as often. And speaking of cleaning, you get multi-floor mapping: The DEEBOT X2 OMNI can store up to three floor plans for use on multiple levels of your home. With zone cleaning: You can use the ECOVACS Home app to create cleaning zones, so the robot only cleans the areas you want.

But the best features of this new DEEBOT robot vacuum are its powerful suction power, avoidance capabilities, and built-in security camera. The DEEBOT X2 OMNI has 8000Pa of suction power to pick up even the finest dust and pet hair.
As for avoiding objects, the X2 OMNI comes with AI-controlled AIVI 3D 2.0 dynamic Obstacle Avoidance. The robot has a fully integrated AI and sophisticated machine learning technology that can"learn" and "think" to achieve more flexible and accurate dynamic obstacle avoidance (such as fast-walking people and semi-open doors). This can lead to more thorough cleaning in households with bright or dark environments. It can also help the robot vacuum avoid obstacles like pet toys, furniture legs, and electrical cords. This is key for any robot vacuum to have.

We found the Ecovacs DEEBOT X2 OMNI robot vacuum setup to be relatively straightforward. Even putting together the Omni Station, which charges and self-empties the X2 OMNI robot, was a simple and straightforward process. To help you understand, here are the few simple steps you need to take to set up the X2 OMNI robot:

Now that your robot vacuum and Omni station are set up and connected to the Ecovacs app., here are some tips on what to do before your first cleaning. First, place the X2 Omni robot on the Omni Station to charge it fully before its first cleaning session. While the robot is charging, you can prepare the mopping pads. Fill the water tank on the Omni Station with clean water and attach the mopping pads to the robot. Once fully charged, the robot is ready for its first cleaning session.
Before you initiate the first cleaning cycle using the ECOVACS Home app, you need to start the mapping process. This process will enable the robot vacuum's advanced features like custom scenario cleaning. Just press the "Start Mapping" button in the app. Once the mapping is complete, you can run a cleaning cycle.
After the cleaning cycle is complete, the robot will automatically return to the Omni Station for self-maintenance, including auto-emptying, hot water mop washing, self-drying, and auto-refilling. It's recommended to regularly check and replace the dustbin bag, filters, and mopping pads to ensure optimal performance and maintain hygiene.

Ecovacs robot vacuums and mops work with Siri, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant voice platforms. You can use voice commands to control your DEEBOT X2 if you have a smart speaker or display. But Ecovacs also has its own voice assistant called Yiko. The Yiko assistant only works with specific Ecovacs robot vacuum models, and the DEEBOT X2 OMNI is one of them.
Yiko has come a long way since we last tested the DEEBOT X1 OMNI last year, which had the 1st gen version of Yiko. The Yiko 2.0 version has several more voice commands for mapping, cleaning, pause/resume, navigation, control station, setting up your robot, and querying. There is also a guide on using commands with Yiko offline, like "turn on the Bluetooth distribution network" or "start self-mapping." All you have to do is say the wake word, "OK, Yiko", and wait for her to respond with, "I'm here." Now you can give Yiko the voice command. It's very similar to working with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice assistants. But if you don't have one of those smart speakers or displays but would like to use a voice command occasionally, Yiko will be handy.

The Ecovacs DEEBOT X2 OMNI robot vacuum and mop with Omni Station has a list price of $1,499.99. It is available on the company website, Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and AliExpress. On the company site, it currently is on sale for $1,099, a $400 savings for Black Friday.
Over the past two weeks, we have been testing the DEEBOT X2 OMNI robot vacuum and mop and found it to be more powerful and effective than the previous DEEBOT model we tested, the X2 OMNI. (See our full review here.). The X2 OMNI is very easy to set up, including with the Omni station. There are not a lot of pieces for you to attach to the robot or station. We have tested many types of robot vacuums; some require us to attach brushes, rollers, cords, disposal bags, and water tanks. The X2 OMNI was quick and easy to set up. The instructions on the box, on top of the Omni Station, and in the user manual were easy to follow too.
What we liked about the X2 was its shape. It was not a round robot like the X1. It is more rectangular, which helps it get to the dirt in the corners of your room. We were a little surprised it had only one rotating brush, but how the robot navigated our floors, it was able to get the dirt. Also, the robot came with a larger roller brush than most robot vacuums we tested. The roller brush measures 200mm, while most other vacuums have 168mm brush. This allows it to capture more dirt in a single pass on your floor.

As for the navigation, the robot did a good job mapping our floors and avoiding obstacles like chairs and tables. It also avoided our son's dog when they were visiting us during one of our cleaning runs. If you have a pet, like a dog or a cat, the X2 will do a good job of avoiding running into them while it is picking up the pet hair off your wood, tile, or carpet flooring.
Another nice feature we tested with the X2 OMNI was its ability to vacuum and then mop the floor simultaneously. The robot can know the difference between carpet and hardwood/tile floor, so it will not wash your carpet. it just lifts up the rotating washing pads when it vacuums your carpet. And when it mops, the DEEBOT X2 uses hot water and rotating mopping pads to clean your floors. Most robot vacuums have half-moon-shaped pads that the robot vacuum soaks with water and then drags along your floors. The DEEBOT X2 comes with two rotating pads that are soaked with hot water at 131 degrees by the robot vacuum. Why 131 degrees hot water? You need very hot water to remove stubborn stains and eliminate odors from your floors. You also need hot water to remove the residual on the mopping pads. The DEEBOT X2 has the industry's first 131-degree hot water cleaning cycle, which also uses hot air to dry your washing pads after cleaning. This helps prevent the pads from stinking up your rooms after cleaning. You can easily set the washing and drying time for the pads in the Ecovacs app. You will find these settings under Station settings in the app. We have not seen this in other robot vacuums, and we like it.
And when the water in the robot gets dirty, no worries. The Omni Station has the ability to suck out the dirty water and add in new water directly from the station. You have to ensure water is in the clean water tank inside the Omni Station.
Lastly, the other feature, like the DEEBOT X2 OMNI, is the camera on the side of the robot vacuum, which is used by the robot's AIVI 3D technology. The camera is an AI computing power and astrophotography grade RGB camera with autopilot technology built in to help it avoid obstacles while cleaning. The vacuum uses it to help detect humans in the dark. But it can also be used as an extra security camera inside your home. You can even set schedule patrols for your Deebot to roam the floor and take videos. It's an interesting feature we don't see often in robot vacuums, but it can be useful in keeping an eye on the kids or your pets when not at home or late at night.
