Over the past few weeks, we have been testing smart air fryers. Have you ever used one of these smart devices? You should consider a smart air purifier if you are in a hurry, need to whip up a quick meal, and don't want to use the microwave to reheat last night's dinner. These smart kitchen devices can fit on your kitchen counter, and many come with recipes that will show you how to cook a fresh, healthy meal in minutes. Proscenic sent us a smart air fryer to test. It was their T22 Smart Air Fryer, and we had a great time cooking and testing various recipes from their online catalog. Check out what else we found while testing this smart appliance.

What is Proscenic T22 Smart Air Fryer?

The Proscenic T22 Smart Air Purifier is a smart air fryer that comes with TurboAir technology, a non-stick and easy-to-clean tray that can hold up to 5L of food. It also has 13 cooking functions, and 11 presets, which you can use to find a meal right for you and your family.

The T22 smart air fryer can be controlled in three ways: manually, via an app, or using voice commands. The controls for the T22 are on top of the smart air fryer. These touch controls are easy to find and use while cooking if needed. The App control is done using the Proscenic app, available for iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play) mobile devices. And for voice commands, Proscenic T22 is compatible with both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant-enabled devices.

How does Proscenic's TurboAir Technology work? This technology provides 7x air circulation to speed up the cooking process and provide 30% more efficient cooking. It also can lock in moisture which helps make the food more crispy and juicy with 90% less fat. But what we liked was how quiet it did all this while cooking. The T22 also comes with the company's Intelligent Super Denoise technology. This tech helps to reduce the noise of the smart air fryer when cooking by 20% and can maintain a noise level of 48 dB. Is this good? Compared to other smart air fryers with a noise level between 70-100 dB, I would say the T22 is pretty good.

How much does the Proscenic T22 Smart Air Fryer cost?

The Proscenic T22 Smart Aif Fryer has an MSRP of $129.99 and is available on Amazon and Walmart. Both sites are running sales on the T22 at this time. Is this a good price? Based on what we have seen on Amazon and Walmart for smart air fryers, the MSRP price is high, but the sales prices for the T22 we've seen are attractive. And we didn't see many smart air fryers with a tray as big or bigger than what the T22 comes with.

How to set up the T22 Smart Air Fryer?

Setting up your Proscenic T22 Smart Air Fryer is quite easy and quick. It's almost a plug-and-play device, but you must find recipes and prepare the food. The first step is to unbox the air fryer and then download the Proscenic app. Next, you need to connect the T22 to your home Wi-Fi network. We recommend you check the Wi-Fi connection in the location you plan to use the smart air fryer before buying one. This will make any setup run smoothly, as well as the cooking part. If your signal is weak, you might need a Wi-Fi extender to help boost the connection.

Once unboxed, the app downloaded, and the smart air fryer is connected to your home Wi-Fi, you are ready to start cooking.

Performance - How well does it cook?

For our test run, we decided to do what most people would want to see from a smart air fryer, fried chicken. While one of us prepared the chicken (i.e., cleaned and breaded the chicken legs and breast), the other looked for recipes. We found a recipe in the Proscenic app with good and easy-to-cook recipes. Each recipe will tell you the following:

  • how long does it take to cook
  • temperature to cook
  • Ingredients
  • Steps
  • Equipment
Note that each recipe will tell you if your device can be used.

When it came time to cook our fried chicken, we placed it on the tray. The tray size is 5L (or 5.28 Qt) and can hold up to 3-4 servings. It is also dishwasher safe. Even though the tray was big, it was not enough for us to cook all the chicken. We had to do it over 3 cooking sessions. So, if you have to cook for more than 4 people or you have a lot of servings to make, it will not be as quick as you might hope. For us, our recipe called for 20 minutes. Therefore, it took us about an hour to cook our chicken. This is something to be aware of, especially if you want french fries with your fried chicken.

Now we start our cooking using the app. You can use manual controls, but the app is much easier. It told us when to flip our chicken which is important. If you don't flip the chicken in the air fryer, it will not cook properly. But since this is a smart air fryer, it will send you an alert to flip your chicken. This is nice to have, even for a chef who might be preparing another part of the meal while the air fryer is cooking.

Overall, the outcome was good, and the food was crispy and tasty.

Summary

If you have a big family and want a smart air fryer to help you cook french fries and wings for a family of 6 or more, you will have difficulty finding a smart air fryer big enough for this task that is a standalone device. The trays are not big, and you will have to do several rounds of cooking, which could last 20 minutes or more per round. However, if you are in the market for a smart air fryer with a family of 4 and want it to work with Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa-enabled devices, Proscenic T22 is the one for you. It's well built, easy to use, and has a large tray and quiet operation. If you live in an apartment, you might find the size of the T22 to be a little bit big, especially if you have limited counter space. But it works and comes with many recipes for cooking all types of meals, not just fried food.

Pros

  • Turn/Flip alerts in app
  • Dishwasher safe 5.28 QT tray
  • Wide selection of recipes

Cons

  • Controls on top
  • Only cook 3-4 servings at a time
