One of the first smart home security cameras GearBrain tested was from Blink. It was actually the company's DIY home security camera system, and at the time, it was one of the best security camera systems for smart homes. It was perfect for homeowners who wanted a secure and reliable system to protect their homes. Since then, the company's cameras have evolved into solid standalone smart DIY security cameras with excellent features to secure your home, apartment, or office. And today, we are happy to report that Amazon is introducing the next generation of Blink's all-time best-selling line of cameras—Blink Outdoor 4.
What is the Blink Outdoor 4?
Blink Outdoor 4Blink
Powered by Blink's proprietary silicon, Blink Outdoor 4 is an outdoor security camera with the best image quality and longest battery life of any Blink camera. It can enable high image quality, enhanced low light sensitivity, and has a wider field-of-view (FOV) significantly improved over the previous generation while maintaining up to two years of battery life. Blink's on-device computer vision also supports person detection (Blink subscription required), allowing customers to customize the motion notifications only when a person is present.
How much will the Blink Outdoor 4 cost? The new Blink camera starts at just $119.99 and will be available on Amazon. You can get more information on the camera's availability at Amazon's site.
"Customers continue to love the image quality, versatility, and affordability of Blink cameras and doorbells—in fact, we saw a 41% increase in the number of Blink devices sold year-over-year, with 60% of customers last year being new to Blink entirely," said Mike Harris, chief operating officer at Blink. "Blink Outdoor 4 is our most versatile camera yet. It gives customers more of what they love—fantastic image quality, even in low light, plus new advanced features like person detection powered by on-device computer vision—without compromising our battery-life promise."
Advanced Image Quality and Motion Detection in an Affordable Compact Design
New compact design for Blink Outdoor 4 cameraBlink
Blink Outdoor 4 is powered by Blink's custom-designed 3rd generation silicon, which enables advanced, dual-zone motion detection—providing broader coverage so customers can catch events earlier. Customers can also clearly define what alerts they receive and from where on their property with enhanced motion detection that helps reduce the number of false alerts and provides greater motion accuracy. All image processing takes place locally, on-device, with just two AA batteries providing up to two years of battery life. Customers can conveniently save and share video clips in the cloud with an optional Blink Cloud subscription. They can also store and share clips locally using a Blink Sync Module by inserting a USB drive (sold separately).
(Note: For those of you who don't know what the Blink Sync Module is, it is a hub that relays commands and network details to Blink cameras in the system it manages. The latest version of the Blink Sync Module is the Sync Module 2. This hub does require a power outlet and gets connected to your Wi-Fi network. It will also handle activity for up to ten Blink devices.)

Easy integration with Alexa helps customers monitor and control their Blink devices hands-free, receive alerts, check live view on-demand, activate two-way talk, and more. They can also see multiple cameras in one view with select Alexa-enabled screen devices. Like all Blink cameras, customers also have complete control of their privacy settings and privacy zones via the Blink app, with highly customizable settings that ensure their devices record only what they want and exclude areas that may surround their property, such as sidewalks or public walkways.
