More and more technology companies are making commitments to carbon reduction by manufacturing products with recycled materials. Skullcandy is one of these companies and have released two new pairs of earbuds with 100% recyclable packaging. They also have a unique design to help promote their commitment to the environment. These two new earbuds are part of the Limited-Edition Skullcandy Transparency Series and include Hesh Evo Wireless Headphones and Jib True 2 Wireless Earbuds. In this review, we will show you what we found while testing the Jib True 2 Wireless earbuds.

What are the Limited-Edition Skullcandy Transparency Series Jib True 2 Wireless Earbuds?

The Limited-Edition Skullcandy Transparency Series Jib True 2 Wireless Earbuds are a pair of wireless Bluetooth earbuds with a net-zero carbon footprint. They contain a carbon emissions equivalent of 5.70 kg and come with 33 hours of total battery life on a single charge. The wireless earbuds also have the Tile tracker technology built-in, are IPX4 rated water resistant, lightweight and have touch control for volume, making calls and changing tracks.

What makes these Skullcandy wireless earbuds unique is its visual design. The Transparency Series comes with vibrant colors to help create awareness of the company’s commitment to the environment. The Jib True 2 earbuds color is Transparency Green and definitely standouts. They have light blue ear gels, but the charging case is in neon green. The charging case is small, and the earbuds snap into place when you put them back. It’s also lightweight and small enough to put in your pocket or carrying bag.

How much do the Limited-Edition Skullcandy Transparency Series Jib True 2 Wireless Earbuds Cost?

The Limited-Edition Skullcandy Transparency Series Jib True 2 Wireless Earbuds cost only $49.99 and are available on the Skullcandy website and Amazon. Is this a good price for wireless earbuds? The Transparency Series Jib True 2 wireless earbuds cost $10 more than regular Skullcandy Jib True 2 headsets which come in black, chill grey and light grey/blue. But keep in mind the company is donating a portion of proceeds to benefit nonprofit Protect Our Winters. So, even with the high price, these wireless earbuds are priced right and we consider them to be one of the better brands that make wireless earbuds for less than $50.

How to set up your Limited-Edition Skullcandy Transparency Series Jib True 2 Wireless Earbuds?

Setting up your Limited-Edition Skullcandy Transparency Series Jib True 2 Wireless Earbuds is rather easy. After unboxing your Jib True 2 earbuds, take the earbuds out of the charging case and remove the protective stickers from the charging points. Then put the earbuds back in the charging case. The LEDs turn red, remove them from the case to start the pairing process with your mobile device. The Jib True 2 connect to your mobile device as soon as you take them out of the case. They connect using a Bluetooth 5.2 wireless connection.

Once your Jib True 2 earbuds are paired to your mobile device, you can use the following touch controls on the earbuds:

  • Press 1 time on either earbud to play/pause as well as answer and end a call
  • Press 2 times on the right earbud to raise the volume or left earbud to lower the volume
  • Press and Home 2 seconds on the right earbud to move to next track and the left earbuds to go back a track.
  • Press 3 times on either earbud to activate your mobile device’s smart assistant, like Sire or Google Assistant.
  • And when your earbuds are off and your hold either earbud for 4 seconds, you will begin the pairing process.

All instructions are available on Skullcandy’s site or through their mobile app. The Skullcandy app is available for both iOS and Android devices. The app does not allow you to adjust music levels, but it does keep track of your earbud’s battery levels.

Performance

We tested the Limited-Edition Skullcandy Transparency Series Jib True 2 Wireless Earbuds and really like the sound from these Bluetooth wireless earbuds. It gave us a full sound and the levels ok. We would have liked to have been able to adjust some of the sound mix, but most wireless earbuds under $50 don’t come with this feature. And the Jib True 2 have a respectable sound mix we think most people will like.

For touch controls, they were easy to use. On the end of each earbud there is a plastic pad which is easy for you to find to touch and control your earbuds. Many wireless earbuds with touch control come with sensitive touch controls and can provide a frustrating listening experience if you like to change songs or have multiple calls coming in. The Jib True 2 earbuds’ control was simple to use but we did experience one issue. When advancing a track, you must hold down the right earbud for 2 seconds before you hear the beep and the track changes. During these two seconds, we were pushing the right earbud into our ear further than normal. After a few songs and phone calls, the earbuds started to feel uncomfortable. With simple touch control earbuds, you just easily touch the earbuds to move a track forward or backward. Something to be aware of if buying these earbuds.

We did test the Tile finding technology which is built-in to the Jib True 2 earbuds. It worked fine for us. We also made calls with the earbuds in while outside, and the quality was good. You do have to be careful when outside with these earbuds. Because of the design of the Jib True 2 earbuds, you will get wind distorting your calls or listening of music/podcasts. For us during testing, we were able to get a good fit with the ear gels on each earbud which help reduce the distortion from the wind. So, if you plan to wear these earbuds outside and there is a potential for a windy day, you need to be aware of this potential issue when wearing your Jib True 2 earbuds.

Lastly, the color of the Transparency Series Jib True 2. These wireless earbuds are bright and available in one color which might not be for everyone. Our tester’s daughter and her friends really liked the color. If you don’t like the transparency green color, keep in mind you can get Jib True 2 wireless earbuds in black, chill grey and light grey/blue. However, no proceeds will go to the Protect Our Winters which is one of the main purposes behind Skullcandy mission to a help protect the environment.

Summary

Skullcandy’s Limited-Edition Skullcandy Transparency Series Jib True 2 Wireless Earbuds are a reliable pair of Bluetooth wireless earbuds. The touch controls can be a little hard on your ears if you are receiving a lot of calls or constantly changing tracks. However, the price will make up for this minor touch issue.

If you are an eco-conscious music lover and in the market for good quality wireless earbuds for less than $50, you are going to really like Skullcandy’s Transparency Series Jib True 2. They come with a respectable sound experience, are lightweight and have a long battery life. They also have Tile Finding Technology built-in which will come in handy when you lose either your Jib True 2 or your carrying bag with the Jib True 2 inside.
