Skullcandy’s Doritos SLYR Wired Gaming Headset is a limited edition SLYR gaming headset with many cool features designed for gamers. This wired-powered gaming headset comes with Skullcandy’s Supreme Sound, a unique audio tuning process that maximizes the depth and detail of each sound coming through the over-the-ear headphones. It also has a bi-directional mic to ensure a crystal-clear communication experience while playing multiplayer games. You can also quickly mute and control the volume using the mute button on the left earphone or the onboard controls of your Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, or PC.

What can you connect your Skullcandy Doritos SLYR headset to? These new gaming headsets work with laptops and PCs as long as they have a 3.5 mm combo jack. The Doritos SLYR headphones also work with controllers from leading gaming systems like Xbox One, Xbox Series XjS controllers, and PlayStation 4 and 5. You can also use them with Nintendo Switch consoles and smartphones or tablets if they have a 3.5 mm jack. Ensure your laptops have audio and microphone ports and you use the included splitter cable.

Another key feature of these colorful wired gaming headsets is their lightweight design. Skullcandy uses tough, lightweight materials, including head-conforming memory foam ear cushions wrapped in moisture-wicking and breathable fabric. Hence, you get all-day comfort while playing multiplayer games with your friends.

How to set up your Skullcandy Doritos SLYR Wired Gaming Headsets?

Setting up these wired gaming headsets is relatively easy. They are “a plug-and-play” device for sure. First, unbox your headset and attach the boom mic to the headset. Make sure the LED on the end of the mic is facing upward. Next, take the 3.5 mm aux cable and plug it into the headset and your gaming device. On the cord are labeled with icons. One is a headset, and the other is a game controller. The end with the headset icon gets plugged into the headset, while the other end gets inserted into the 3.5 mm port on your gaming device. This can be your computer, controller, console, or smartphone. And lastly, on the left earcup is a removable sticker. You can remove this sticker if you want.

How much does this limited-edition wired gaming headset cost?

The Skullcandy Doritos Limited-Edition SLYR Multi-platform wired gaming headset has an MSRP of $69.99 and is available on the company website. Is this a reasonable price? Yes, it is. It’s a little more expensive than the typical Skullcandy SLYR wired gaming headset, which costs around $59.99. Still, when you compare it to the other quality brands on Amazon that create around $99.99, the price for the Doritos SLRY headset is pretty good.

Performance

We tested these new wired gaming headsets on a couple of different devices. We used a MacBook Pro as well as the new Sony PlayStation 5. The setup was, as it says, “plug and play.” The quality of the sound was good, but we would have liked to be able to adjust the mix. You can’t adjust or connect the sound mix with the SKULL-HQ software (app), but you can control the volume. It would be best if you remembered that these gaming headsets are analog stereo headsets.

Besides playing multiplayer games with good sound, we did a test by making a few Zoom calls and phone calls with the SLYR headsets. The sound quality on the other end user’s computer and smartphone was clear, and we had no distortion or interference. We also tested using the headphones without the boom mic on Facetime calls. We used the MacBook Pro’s microphone. The users said the quality of the mix was good, and we had no issues hearing them. So, if you want to use these headphones without the boom mic, it will work. Just make sure you have another microphone to access when you need it.

Overall, these headphones worked, and we got many comments on the color when we appeared immediately on our Facetime and Zoom calls.
