After two years of virtual shows, we want to bring to you the latest and greatest from this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC). As you might remember, the show is held in Barcelona and this year had two huge themes — as usual 5G devices and powerful connectivity no matter where you live, work and play. All these new smart devices were on display in the form of smartphones, earbuds, routers, modems, smartwatches and more.

Yes there were more folding phones at this year's show. But these new phones came with 5G which we expect will revolutionize not just phones, but cars, smart home devices, and everything in-between this. year and beyond.

As ever, Mobile World Congress is a show more suited to the largest companies than the smallest. While there are halls full of small tech firms striving for recognition, they often offer services at the enterprise, or business, level. Others are companies not quite ready for consumers, or do not have confirmed plans for entering the U.S. market.

But due to the pandemic and tensions in Europe, many of the bigger names, and a couple of old faces did not return to MWC this year. However, many of these companies did provide a virtual look for us at the conference. So, here is what we think will impact your life in the coming year whether you live in the US or Europe. GearBrain's favorite devices from Mobile World Congress 2022.

Huawei Smart Office Platform – The Perfect Connected Office No Matter Where you Work

Huawei's Smart Office platform, Super Device provides a more efficient workspace for users.

Huawei

How would you like to have a smart office where all your devices connect and can work seamlessly together via a wireless connection? Huawei unveiled their new Smart Office platform called Super Device. This app allows your Huawei laptop to work as a hub and can connect your smartphone, tablet and printer together to provide a more efficient workspace. To use the Super Device setup, you will need to turn on the Huawei Control Panel app which is built-in the Huawei newest PC/Laptops which have Microsoft Windows 11 OS. If you have an older Huawei model, you will have to download the app onto your laptop. Once you turn the app on, all your devices are now connected, and you will see all your devices on the laptop’s screen. Here you can easily interact with each device and if you want, setup your tablet or smartphone as a second screen.

Some of you might be saying you can do this type of integration with Apple products and why is this so unique? It’s unique because the devices all work on different operating systems even though they are Huawei devices. Huawei’s laptops run Windows 11 while their tablets use HarmonyOS. This is something we have not seen before and give Huawei credit for their work.

Huawei’s Super Device will be available on Huawei’s MateBook X Pro 2022 and other Huawei laptops this year.

Mobvoi TicWatch GTH Pro can read your arteries to help monitor your heart.

Mobvoi

Mobvoi launched their new smartwatch, TicWatch GTH Pro at this year’s MWC. This new smartwatch is a fitness tracker that has heart-monitoring features from a partnership with CardieX. What’s unique about the TicWatch GTH Pro’s heart-monitoring feature is it can help users monitor their arterial health. The smartwatch can see the strength of your pulse in real time by measuring the arterial waveforms. We also like how there is a second optical sensor on the side of the smartwatch to take measurements using your finger. And the smartwatch can track your sleep and monitor your skin temperature as well.

The Mobvoi TicWatch GTH Pro will work with either iOS or Android smartphones and costs only $99. It’s available on the company website and Amazon.

Honor Magic 4 and Magic 4 Pro Smartphone – Best Competitive Smartphone to Samsung Galaxy S22

Photo of Honor Magic 4 Pro Smartphone in Cyan, Gold and Black

Honor Magic 4 Pro Smartphone comes in three colors: Cyan, Gold and Black.

Honor

Honor launched at this year’s MWC a new smartphone which is expected to rival Samsung’s New Galaxy S22 smartphone. The new Magic 4 and Magic 4 Pro are full of features including LTPO screen displays, Eye of Muse branded camera setup with ultra-wide lens and expanded field of view. There is a telephoto lens option too. But it seems the two best features are its multi-camera fusion technology and AI noise cancelling. The multi-camera technology blends together your pictures from each lens to provide sharper photos. And the AI Privacy Call feature can adjust the volume on your call based on the ambient noise around you. This helps whoever you are speaking to hear you when you are in a noisy environment.

The company also announced new earbuds and a smartwatch at this year’s MWC. Both will work nicely with your new Honor smartphone. However, they didn’t announce when any of the devices will be ready. Honor did release European pricing. The Magic 4 Pro with 8GB and 256GB storage starts at $1,230 and the Magic 4 will cost around $1,006 for the same setup. The Watch GS3 will start around $256, and the earbuds will cost $222.
